Twenty people were injured Tuesday when a driver crashed into the Social Security building in Egg Harbor Township on Tuesday morning.
Donna Woodall crashed through the wall and into the building, after accelerating across the sidewalk, Lt. Michael Finnerty said.
The 1998 Nissan Sentra and debris struck several people inside the lobby, according to the report.
One person was in critical condition and another seriously injured, Finnerty said. Eighteen others had minor injuries.
The critical and serious patients were taken by emergency medical technicians and medics to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center's City Campus. The victims suffering minor injuries were treated by the EMS Strike Team Task Force and transported for evaluation.
Woodall, 56, of Atlantic City, and her passengers were taken in for evaluation as well. Police did not say how many people were in the car.
The building was secured by fire personnel and deemed safe by the township building inspector, Finnerty said.
The crash is being investigated by Officer Ludwig of the Egg Harbor Township Police Department Traffic Safety Unit. The investigation is ongoing but circumstances known at this time indicate this was accident and not an intentional act. Possible charges are pending completion of the investigation.
