A 911 call and video show how Galloway Township's mayor chased down a burglary suspect Wednesday night.
"He's out back," Tony Coppola tells the 911 dispatcher after the man accused of burglarizing Fred and Ethel's allegedly tried to get into the restaurant again.
"I'm going out to get him," Coppola then says.
"Does he have any weapons on him?" the dispatcher asks.
"I don't know," the mayor replies, "but I'll find out in a minute."
Coppola then gives chase down Route 9, while giving the dispatcher breathless updates.
George Dean Jr. then dodges into the woods, but police soon arrive.
Dashcam footage shows Coppola waving down the patrol car, and then the police taking Dean into custody.
And excited Coppola can be seen behind them jumping up and down in triumph with a fist pump.
Evidence was also able to link Dean to a previous burglary at Spirit Gas Station.
Dean allegedly had master keys to businesses in Smithville.
Surveillance video from inside Fred and Ethel's shows the previous burglary, with the suspect wearing the same jacket he was wearing when arrested — emblazoned with "Loser."
