An Egg Harbor Township man was fatally struck Monday morning, after police said a driver disregarded a red light.
Anthony Swezeny, 33, was heading north across the Black Horse Pike in the area of English Creek Avenue at about 8:25 a.m., when he was struck by an eastbound SUV, township police Lt. Robert Gray said.
Michael Doyle, 31, of Tuckerton, was driving east on the pike when he disregarded the red light at English Creek Avenue, according to the investigation.
Swezeny suffered multiple traumatic injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene, Gray said.
Doyle's vehicle also struck a van driven by Joseph Avellino, 59, of the township.
Doyle and his passenger, 28-year-old Brittney Trapp of Tuckerton, were treated at the scene and taken to AtlantiCare Regional Center's City Campus.
The pike was shut down for about three hours so the crash could be investigated and cleared.
The investigation is ongoing and charges are pending.
Sgt. Larry Graham, and Officers Robert Moran and Benjamin Kollman are investigating. The Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office assisted.
