A community is looking for answers after a missing Egg Harbor Township teen was found dead in Pleasantville.
Irving Mayren-Guzman’s body was found by a volunteer in the marsh just east of Centerfolds Cabaret on Delilah Road, where he was last seen Saturday night.
An investigation found that the 19-year-old was involved in an altercation before he was seen walking east away from the club, video surveillance found.
The cause and manner of death are pending an autopsy. It is not yet clear if it’s considered a homicide.
It was only the second time he had been at the establishment, according to his brother.
Mayren-Guzman was supposed to have an interview for financial aid Monday to return to school, his older brother Alex told BreakingAC.
“He had a passion,” Alex said. “He wanted to cut hair.”
The brothers had been working together at Caliber Collision in Egg Harbor Township, where the missing man lived with his mother.
His family last saw him around 11 p.m. Saturday. He left without saying anything, youngest brother, Giovanni, said.
The family was notified around 4 or 5 a.m. that Mayren-Guzman was missing, saying he had never returned to the car.
An employee later found his cell phone, Alex Mayren said.
But exactly what happened from when the young man went into the club and his death in the marsh is not yet clear.
Family and friends gathered outside Centerfolds on Tuesday then marched to the Pleasantville Police Department with signs demanding justice. They then walked back to the club, where police were intermittently stopping traffic for safety purposes.
