The community has come out in support of a Somers Point man jailed for allegedly running a non-licensed cannabis-manufacturing facility out of his home.
But it was the seizure of about $119,526 that has hit the family hardest, it seems.
She goes on to talk of her brother's generosity, which others echo in comments both on the GoFundMe page and in public social media posts.
"John has done so many great things for his family, his friends, his community, and to strangers he has never even met more than once," she wrote. "John would give the shirt off of his back for anyone in need and never ask for anything in return. As his sister, I am asking for you to please return the favor and help him and his family out in this horrible time."
The posting — which includes a family photo that BreakingAC has blurred — does not mention the criminal case.
"I have known John and his family since he was a little boy," one donator wrote. "The entire family is generous at heart."
"John is undoubtedly one of the nicest people who will always have your back its time we returned the favor," shared another.
The goal is listed as $20,000. It had raised $3,230 at the time of this report.
Garman is in the Atlantic County Justice Facility pending a detention hearing.
