Efaj Ahmed had little time to think when a man came into his family's Atlantic City store with a gun, demanding money.
The 17-year-old was working at A.C. Convenience Store on the 4000 block of Ventnor Avenue when a man came in with a mask on, Ahmed told BreakingAC.
"He puts this plastic bag on the counter with a gun in it," he said. "He tells me to put the money in the bag."
Ahmed acted like he was going to comply, but instead saw the gun was on the counter and thought he had a chance to snatch it.
"I can't let somebody take my family's hard-working money," he said.
"I was acting like I'm going to give him the money, that's when I snatch the gun from him," Ahmed said. "I reloaded the gun and pointed it at him like I was about to shoot him."
Instead, the would-be robber took off his mask and "tells me to chill," the teen said.
Ahmed said he is not familiar with guns, but believed it to be fake.
Police now say it was a BB gun and are looking for the suspect, who fled.
Surveillance video Ahmed posted on his Facebook page shows the incident unfold.
"It's my dad's store, I just help out every day for four hours after school," Ahmed said.
