Galloway Township police are looking for a man in an attempt to start a fire at the police station Tuesday.
Video surveillance shows a man approach the front lobby of the Galloway Township Police Department t about 6:30 p.m.
He is seen hanging around outside for a brief time, then he produces a glass bottle containing what is believed to be a petroleum-based accelerate, police said.
He tries to light the bottle, then tosses it onto the concrete in front of the doors to the station and runs.
The bottle shattered and splashed the accelerate all over the doors and lobby entrance, police said.
There were several officers and civilians inside the lobby at the time, but no one was injured. The contents of the bottle did not ignite.
The suspect was seen running toward the area of Jimmie Leeds Road.
He is described as a 5-foot-7 white male in his mid- to late-20s, with a pale, thin face and scruffy brown or red facial hair. He was wearing a brown or tan jacket with a checkered pattern over a gray sweatshirt with the hood up and dark pants.
Anyone with information about the incident or who knows the identity of the man is asked to call Lt. Joseph Picardi at 609-652-3705, ext. 327.
