Manco & Manco owners' federal sentencing postponed for sixth time

  • News
Manco & Manco pizza owners Charles and Mary Bangle were relieved when their tax evasion came to light because they had been concerned about getting caught, according to a memorandum of their interview. But, it seems, the government isn't as eager to sentence them. The Bangles, who pleaded guilty to federal tax evasion 18 months ago, have had their sentencing postponed for a sixth time. The first sentencing was set for Nov. 5, 2015, less than four months after they pled. Since then, they have celebrated the business' 60th anniversary and prepared for the opening a of a new store on Ninth Street. The couple admitted to federal agents that they deposited more cash in their personal account than they reported as payroll in their tax forms, according to documents filed in federal court. The unreported money was from the pizza business and the couple’s Linwood accountant was unaware of the money, one report states. The most recent
date was Friday, but that has been changed to Feb. 24, at the order of Judge Robert Kugler, according to court records. A memorandum of their interview says the couple “apologized for lying to the agents earlier about taking cash from the business. They both said they were relieved that this is coming out because they have been concerned about getting caught for a long time.” Charles Bangle indicated he wanted to resolve the matter and to make an effort to repay the money. It remains unclear whether any payments have been made and what if any monitors are being put on the couple now.
