A large Burlington County forest fire has many in Atlantic County seeing and smelling smoke.
The fire burning more than 1,000 acres of Wharton State Forest is contained but not under control, officials say.
People are being cautioned to stay away from the area for their safety and to allow those working the fire full access.
All trails are closed, along with the Mullica River, Lower Forge, Hawkins Bridge, Buttonwood Hill and Godfrey Bridge campgrounds, according to the forest’s website.
Anyone with reservations or concerns is asked to call the office at 609-561-3262.
