Three people were arrested in two separate Atlantic City incidents Friday.
An early morning search warrant served at a home on the 2000 block of McKinley Avenue led police to 450 bags of heroin, 80 grams of unpackaged heroin and packaging materials, Sgt. Kevin Fair said.
Louis Murphy, 36, of Atlantic City, was arrested. A search of his vehicle found 5,160 bags of heroin inside a hidden compartment, along with 14 grams of methamphetamine and a loaded handgun, according to the report.
The monthlong investigation was led by Detective William Warner.
Murphy was charged with two counts each of possession, possession with intent to distribute and possession within a public zone. He also was charged with unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon while committing a drug offense and possession of a weapon by a convicted felon.
Murphy's criminal history dates to at least 1996, according to court records. He pleaded guilty to a third-degree heroin charge in 2014, and received a suspended sentence, court records show.
At 10:15 the same morning, Detectives Ermindo Marsini, Nick Berardis and Chris Smith stopped a car in the 100 block of South New York Avenue.
Both people inside, Twyenika Clegg and Jonathan Porter, were found to have active warrants, and were arrested, Fair said.
Further investigation found 225 bags of heroin inside the vehicle and $4,000 in cash.
Porter , 26, and Clegg, 24, were charged with drug possession, possession with intent to distribute, possession within a public zone and contempt of court. Porter was taken to the Atlantic County Justice Facility. Clegg was released on a warrant.
