ACPD surveillance team helps catch alleged burglars

  • News

A man and woman were arrested Sunday, after police in Atlantic City's surveillance center allegedly caught them trying to burglarize a store on the Boardwalk.
The couple was seen in the 1700 block of the Boardwalk at 2:18 a.m., Sgt. Kevin Fair said.
After causing significant damage to the front door without success, the two started to walk away, according to the report.
Patrol officers were notified which direction the pair went, and Officer Tyler Daily found Wilber McClary and Michele Abdur-Rahim as they left the boardwalk, Fair said.
They were arrested with tools that were used to damage the door, Fair said.
McClary, 61, and Abdur-Rahim, 53, both of Atlantic City, were charged with criminal attempt burglary, criminal mischief, possession of burglary tools and conspiracy.
McClary also had several outstanding warrants, and was taken to the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
Abdur-Rahim was released on a summons.
