A convicted burglar has been linked to at least three commercial burglaries in Atlantic City, police said.
James Mason, 50, was arrested last week, after Officer Christian Ivanov recognized Mason from a departmental flyer, Sgt. Kevin Fair said.
Detectives Joshua Schwenger and Roberto Matos had been investigating several commercial burglaries throughout the city, and found surveillance video of Mason taken during one of the burglaries.
Mason was paroled in October after serving 15 months of a three-year sentence on a burglary charge, state Department of Corrections records show.
Mason is now charged with the Jan. 30 burglary of Michael’s Fila store in the 1100 block of the Boardwalk, the Feb. 10 burglary of the Rainforest Café in the 2200 block of the Boardwalk, and the Feb. 13 burglary of Chelsea Pizza II in the 1700 block of Atlantic Avenue.
Detectives are investigating Mason’s possible connection to other open burglary investigations, Fair said.
Detectives of the Forensic Unit assisted in the investigations.
Mason is charged with burglary, theft and criminal mischief. He is being held in the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
