A Mays Landing man was jailed after he was found armed during a car stop in Hamilton Township, police said.
Officers stopped the car on Almond Street at about 3:20 p.m. Thursday, after a 911 call about an erratic driver, according to the report.
During the stop, back seat passenger Julianni Nunez was seen stuffing something into a boot on the floorboard, police said.
Nunez, 20, refused to follow the officers’ commands, leading to a struggle, according to the report. He was taken out of the vehicle, and officers found marijuana on Nunez and a .22-caliber handgun inside the boot.
The officers and Nunez were treated for minor injuries at the scene by the Township of Hamilton Rescue.
Nunez was sentenced in January on a terroristic threats charge, court records show. He was given a suspended sentence of two years. It was not clear if the new charge would send him to prison in that case.
Nunez was charged with possession of a weapon for unlawful purposes, unlawful possession of a weapon, certain persons not to possess weapons, transporting weapons, distribution of CDS, resisting arrest, obstruction of justice and possession of marijuana less than 50 grams.
He was lodged in the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
The driver, 20-year-old Antoyane McCall of Mays Landing, was also jailed on an unrelated warrant.
A 17-year-old passenger in the front seat was not charged and was released at the station.
