Man charged with DWI, heroin possession in four-car Hamilton crash

  • News

A Delaware man was charged with heroin possession and driving while intoxicated after he allegedly plowed into three cars stopped at a red light in Hamilton Township.
Police were called to a four-car crash just before 1 p.m. Friday at the Black Horse Pike and Cologne Avenue.
Van Vasiliades, 67, of Millsboro, Dela., was heading east on pike where three cars were stopped at the red light, police said.
Vasiliades failed to stop, and struck all three vehicles, causing his 202 Lexus to overturn, trapping him inside, according to the report.
Good Samaritans and off-duty officers helped police free Vasiliades from the car.
Four people were taken to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center’s Mainland Campus in Galloway Township for treatment.
Vasiliades was charged with possession of heroin and DWI.
Traffic was diverted for about an hour. The crash remains under investigation.
