Two teens were arrested Saturday after a car stop in Pleasantville led to drugs and a loaded gun.
La’Quan Cooper, 18, of Egg Harbor Township, was pulled over in the area of Martin Terrace at 1:13 p.m., after he was seen violating several traffic laws, Capt. Matt Hartman said.
Cooper’s driver’s license was suspended.
Patrolmen JonMarshall Robinson and Matthew Stricker searched the vehicle after smelling marijuana coming from the car, according to the report.
Sgt. Girard Tell supervised the search, which found multiple pills of alprazolam, better known as Xanax.
There was also a digital scale that had residue believed to be cocaine, and there was suspected marijuana in the gas cap, Hartman said.
Cooper and his 15-year-old passenger were arrested on drug charges.
During the arrest, the juvenile from Pleasantville was found with a Taurus TCP .380 semi-automatic handgun loaded with hollowpoint bullets, according to the report.
The teen also had marijuana and an undisclosed amount of cash seized as proceeds from criminal activity.
Cooper was released on a summons.
The juvenile was charged with drug and weapons offenses and is being held at the Harborfields Juvenile Detention Center.
