Back to school event offers fun, prizes for Atlantic City kids

  • News

An Atlantic City street will shut down next Sunday for an event to focus on the city’s youth.
The second annual School is Cool event sponsored by Faceless Fashion Apparel will be held from 2 to 6 p.m. on Pennsylvania Avenue between Atlantic and Pacific avenues.
“This event is thankfully built upon resident engagement and action,” said Faceless founder, Franki Hall-Watson.
Last year, she promised the event would be an annual occurrence.

The year’s celebration will include food, music, prizes, horse rides and giveaways, including a free laptop and tablet to two high school students with a GPA of at least 3.0.
They also are giving away 1,000 bookbags with supplies.
“Strong communities are built on the strengths and capacities of their residents,” Hall-Watson said.
“Most importantly, we want to serve as an example of leadership and entrepreneurship to the youth. We want to show them that the key to success is having unshakable faith in yourself and in your ability to follow through and get things done.”
