A man was charged with driving while intoxicated after he struck an electrical pole Thursday on Ventnor Avenue.
Kyle Cocozza, 34, was heading west at about 11:30 p.m., when he failed to negotiate the bend at Longport Drive and struck the pole, splitting it in half, police said.
His vehicle then spun around, coming to a stop in the park, according to the report.
Ventnor Avenue was closed between 30th and 31st avenues while Atlantic City Electric removed the downed electrical line that was stretched across the road, police said.
Cocozza was arrested by Officers Alessandro Morelli and Dean Tibbitt for the DWI. he was also issued summonses for failure to maintain lane, careless driving, reckless driving and possession of an open alcohol container in a motor vehicle.
He was not injured.
