The detention hearing for a Brigantine man accused of killing his wife was postponed until next week.
Robert Declementi appeared briefly in court Thursday, via video from the jail.
He is accused of killing his wife, Rachel Declementi, who was found in the entry way of their home early Saturday morning.
A blood-covered Robert Declementi allegedly told responding officers that his wife had come home that night and told him she cheated on his with someone from Applebee's, the affidavit states.
The killing appeared to have happened in a back room, with blood showing the victim was likely dragged through the kitchen and into the front of the house, according to the affidavit. A hammer was found in the kitchen and paper towels and a Swiffer mop indicated someone tried to clean up.
The state asked for a postponement while more investigation is done, and to allow that evidence to get sent to the defense.
The judge granted a motion by defense attorney Steven Feldman to preserve blood and hair from the victim to allow the defense to have its own expert examine it, if that is needed down the road.
Declementi's detention hearing is now set for Wednesday.
