Atlantic City police want help identifying looters, rioters

  • News

Atlantic City police are hoping the public can help identify more than 200 suspects in looting and rioting that followed a peaceful protest in May.
The department has put together a 74-page packet with photos of 219 suspects that are the result of hundreds of hours of video recorded coverage police went through from public and private cameras.
The photographs and footage "followed a month of legwork by a special task force created by the Atlantic City Police Department to hold people accountable for the serious crimes that occurred during the protest on May 31, specifically in the area of Tanger Outlets Atlantic City,” Chief Henry White Jr. said.
These suspects will be criminally charged when the investigation is completed, Sgt. Kevin Fair said.
“The Atlantic City Police Department respects and supports those who exercise their First Amendment rights, including the right to peacefully protest,” White said. “Individuals should not have their constitutionally protected rights hijacked by individuals committing criminal activity.”

Anyone with information about the identity of these individuals is asked to call Atlantic City police at 609-343-3771 or email riotinvestigationteam@acpolice.org.
Information may also be texted anonymously to tip411 (847411), beginning the text with ACPD.
Anonymous tips can also be called in to Crime Stoppers at 609-652-1234 or 800-658-TIPS (8477). Tips that lead to charges can result in cash rewards.
When identifying an individual, use the number assigned to his or her picture.
