A veteran Atlantic City has died after a battle with COVID-19.
Anthony Carfagno, 58, died Tuesday.
He started his career in 1998 and served for more than 23 years.
Carfagno was a skilled firefighter and driver/operator assigned to Engine Company 3 of the Second Platoon.
He was a fixture in the department and community, according to a release from the city.
Carfagno consistently supported the International Association of Firefighters Muscular Dystrophy’s “Fill the Boot” initiative and was an integral caretaker of the community garden that surrounded his local firehouse at Indiana and Grant avenues.
His impact will be sorely missed throughout the entire department and our community, the release said.
“His memory will live on through the warmhearted legacy he left behind.”
Funeral service details are pending and will be released at a later date.
