  • News

A Pleasantville man was arrested Friday after allegedly throwing a gun and fleeing police.
Police were called to the Marina del Rey apartments just before 7 p.m., for a man brandishing a gun, Lt. Stacey Schlachter said.
When officers arrived, a man matching the suspect's description ran east along Delilah Road, according to the report.
The man, later identified as 30-year-old James Parrish, was seen throwing an item into some pushes, and surrendered a short time after, Schlachter said.
Parrish was arrested by K-9 Patrolman Korey Crosby, and Patrolmen Craig Dennis and Michael Corrado.
He was found with more than 200 bags of heroin, according to the charges.
A search of the area by Crosby and his partner, Ace, led to a .357 Taurus revolver loaded with hollow-point bullets in the bushes, Schlachter said.
Parrish was charged with unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon during a drug offense, possession of heroin, possession with intent to distribute, possession of a prohibited device and resisting arrest.
He was also charged with certain person not to possess a weapon due to prior convictions.
Parrish is in the Atlantic County Justice Facility pending a detention hearing.
