An Atlantic City man was arrested with a handgun after a motor vehicle stop Tuesday.
Tariq Smith, 18, is charged with unlawful possession of a weapon after he was found with a loaded gun.
Detectives Alberto Valles, Christopher Dodson and Darrin Lorady were patrolling the area of Stanley Holmes Village in reference to recent shootings when they started following Smith, and put on their lights to pull him over in the area of Kentucky and Baltic avenues, Lt. Kevin Fair said.
Smith then turned down one-way Kentucky Avenue the wrong way and stopped in the middle of the block, according to the report.
There were other people inside the vehicle, but they were released without charges, Fair said.
Smith was taken to the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
