An Atlantic City man was arrested Thursday with a loaded handgun, heroin and crack, police said.
Detectives were conducting surveillance in the first block of South Florida Avenue when they saw a man be part of several drug deals, Sgt. Paul Aristizabal said.
Louis Roe tried to run from the detectives, and struggled as they tried to take him into custody, according to the report.
A Glock handgun fully loaded with hollow-point ammunition fell down Roe's pant leg during the struggle, Aristizabal said.
The detectives also found about 500 wax folds of suspected heroin along with 14 grams of crack cocaine.
Cash totaling $2,090 was also seized, believed to be proceeds from drug sales.
Detectives Chris Dodson and James Barrett led the investigation assisted by Sgt. Richard Andrews and Detectives Chris Smith and Eric Evans.
He was sentenced to four years with one year of parole ineligibility, records show. It appears he did most of that time in the county jail.
Roe is now back in county on two counts each of possession and possession with intent to distribute, along with possession by a certain person not to possess a weapon, unlawful possession of a weapon, possessing a weapon during a drug offense, possession of hollow-point bullets, possession of a high-capacity magazine, aggravated assault on police, resisting arrest and obstruction.
He is being held in the Atlantic County Justice Facility pending a detention hearing.
