A Northfield driver is accused of fatally striking a pedestrian in Absecon and then leaving the scene early Saturday morning.
Mathew Cademartori, 24, was traveling east on the White Horse Pike when he struck Talmadge Franklin, who was walking east, acting Atlantic County Prosecutor Cary Shill said.
Franklin, 67, of Absecon, died.
Cadermatori was arrested at his home two days later, and charged with second-degree leaving the scene of a fatal motor vehicle crash.
He is in the Atlantic County Justice Facility pending a detention hearing.
Court records show Cademartori has two prior municipal charges of careless driving likely to endanger person or property. One was out of Ocean City in 2014, the other out of Upper Township in 2018. No details of those incidents were available.
NOTE: The Atlantic County Justice Facility does not release mugshots under an order by the former prosecutor.
