Brigantine woman indicted in crash that killed man

  • Crime-Courts

A Brigantine woman who was allegedly on “numerous drugs” when she fatally struck a man loading his van has been indicted for vehicular homicide.

Bao “Joanna” Huynh, 34, was driving her Honda Civic down Brigantine Boulevard at 12:17 p.m. June 26, 2021, when she struck Hector Salgado, according to the charges.

Salgado, 54, had just finished a painting job in Brigantine with his brother when he returned to get his ladder, according to a GoFundMe set up to help with expenses.

Huynh’s “use of numerous drugs caused a state of intoxication and impaired her ability to operate a motor vehicle,” Atlantic County Prosecutor Will Reynolds said.

The second-degree offense carries a potential term of 10 years in prison.

Huynh has been jailed since Aug. 19 of this year.
