Two severely injured in allegedly drunken EHT crash

  • News

A Mays Landing woman was allegedly under the influence and without a license when she crashed her car into a pole Wednesday night in Egg Harbor Township.

Both Lenore Solano, 27, and the 28-year-old woman in her car were hospitalized with severe injuries, Lt. Brian Keane said.

Solano already had her license suspended and was without insurance when the crash happened in the township's Farmington section, court records show. She was issued a summons for assault by auto.

Solano was driving south on Westcoat Road just after 7 p.m., when she crossed into the northbound shoulder and struck a utility pole near Aifam Avenue, according to the police report.

She had to be extricated from her 2018 Nissan Sentra by EMS and fire personnel.

Both women were taken to the Trauma Unit at AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center's City Campus for severe injuries, Keane said.

Solano was issued multiple citations, including driving under the influence, reckless driving and careless driving, court records show.

Traffic on Westcoat Road was detoured for about three hours while the scene was being investigated and cleared.

The crash is being investigated by Sergeant Ed Stearns and Officers Nick Poletis and Kevin Brady.

Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to contact the Egg Harbor Township Traffic Safety Unit at 609-926-4045.
