Atlantic City residents featured on new community buses

  • News

Three new buses unveiled Wednesday feature Atlantic City residents.

The transportation will be used primarily for seniors and youth involving city-organized programs and events.

“As I often say, our youth and seniors are our two most precious resources,” Mayor Marty Small. “Under the Small administration, we completely revamped our Health and Human Services Department and are offering more services to our Atlantic City youth and seniors than ever before, including taking them on quality-of-life trips. Transportation can be costly, but having these buses will drive those costs significantly down and save the taxpayers of the Great City of Atlantic City money.”

The sides of each bus bear photos of residents along with the mayor's catch phrase: "It's a great day here in the city of Atlantic City."

Two 54-passenger buses were paid with grants the city obtained.

The CRDA bought the third bus, which carries 20 passengers and has a wheelchair lift.

"We're extremely excited about the buses here for seniors and youth," CRDA interim Executive Director Maisha Moore said. "We expect to continue to see things progress."

The city also received funding from the state for a charter bus and two sprinter vans that will be used for similar purposes next year.
