Burglar alarm leads to Atlantic City teen with stolen gun, police say

  • News

An Atlantic City teen was arrested Tuesday after a burglar alarm led police to a residence where he and a 17-year-old girl were allegedly trespassing.

Police were called to the home in the 1500 block of North Michigan Avenue at 6:30 p.m., and found an open window.

Officers John Bell and Dylan Imbrenda investigated and found Janai Gibbs and the girl inside, trying to hide, Sgt. Paul Aristizabal said.

The officers got the teens to leave.

Gibbs, 19, was then found with a defaced handgun that had been reported stolen from New York, according to the report.

Gibbs was charged with several weapons offenses, along with criminal trespass and taken to the Atlantic County Justice Facility.

The 17-year-old girl was released to a guardian. A trespassing charge is possibly pending for her.
