Pleasantville man sentenced to 14 years in federal gun and drugs case

  • News

A Pleasantville man wounded in a shooting last year was sentenced to 170 months in federal prison.

Clay Brown, 30, pleaded guilty in November to one count each of distribution of methamphetamine and possession of a firearm by a previously convicted felon.

Brown distributed methamphetamine and fentanyl on multiple occasions to a confidential informant, U.S. Attorney Philip Sellinger said.

He had a backpack with a firearm and drugs the day he was arrested.

Brown has multiple prior felony convictions that make it illegal for him to possess a firearm. He most recently served time in prison for two counts of resisting arrest, state Department of Corrections records show. He was released in April 2021.

A year after his release, Brown was wounded in a shooting inside a car in the 400 block of West Delilah Road.

Brown faced 10 to 15 years in prison. U.S. District Judge Joseph Rodriguez sentenced him to just months less than the maximum time. At the completion of his sentence, Brown must serve five years of supervised release.
