Philly fugitive was armed in Atlantic City, police say

  • Crime-Courts

A Philadelphia fugitive was arrested in Atlantic City after an EMT noticed a weapon in a bag.

Officers Matthew Stollenwerk and Robert Thompson responded to the first block of South Kentucky Avenue at about 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, Capt. Kevin Fair said.

Robert Parker, 64, was experiencing a medical emergency, according to the report. An EMT noticed the weapon in the patient's bag.

Exceptional Medical Transport personnel were on scene when officers arrived.

Stollenwerk and Thompson found a loaded rifle and two additional magazines in the bag. They also found Parker has an active warrant.

Parker was taken to the AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center's City Campus for his undisclosed condition, which Fair aid was not life-threatening.

He was charged with unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, possession of high-capacity magazine and fugitive from justice.

Parker was being remanded to the Atlantic County Justice Facility, Fair said.

But it was not clear Thursday whether he was out of the hospital, as he was not listed in jail.
