Atlantic City police are investigating a shooting that wounded a Camden County man Monday night.

Police were called to the first block of South Bellevue Avenue at about 8:49 p.m. by a ShotSpotter alert, Capt. Kevin Fair said.

The 42-year-old victim from Laurel Springs was taken to the AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center's City Campus for treatments of serious injuries, Fair said.

The incident happened two days after police were called to the 2500 block of Pacific Avenue for an individual who was hospitalized.

There was a heavy police presence in the area around 8 Saturday night. But Fair said it was unclear how the individual sustained the injury.

"Until evidence presents itself, we're not speculating," he said, declining to give the name or age of the person, who he would not categorize as a victim at this time.

Both incidents happened around the corner from South Florida Avenue, which has been the city's most troubled area in recent history.

The Violent Crimes Unit is handling the shooting investigation.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Violent Crimes Unit at 609-347-5766. Information may also be texted anonymously to tip411 (847411), beginning the text with ACPD.
