Absecon cannabis quarrel leads to weapon arrest

  • Crime-Courts

An Absecon man angered after he was confronted for smoking marijuana around juveniles at the Sports Complex allegedly chased down the complainer with a pointed tool.

Kevin McAnally, 56, was smoking marijuana at the complex at 100 Morton Ave., when an unnamed man asked him not to smoke around his juvenile siblings, police said.

McAnally "reacted aggressively to the request and brandished an awl," according to the report.

An awl is a pointed tool used for marking surfaces or making small holes.

McAnally then chased the victim in a threatening manner, which led to a witness calling 911.

Officers quickly located McAnally without further incident. The victim did not sustain physical injury.

McAnally was charged with simple assault and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.

He was released on a summons.
