Cedar Creek's Max Melton is headed to Arizona.
The cornerback went No. 43 in the 2024 NFL draft Friday night.
He now becomes the highest drafted player out of Rutgers University since Kemoko Turay went 52nd overall to the Indianapolis Colts in 2018.
An Honorable Mention All-Big Ten Conference each of the past two seasons, Melton was the Scarlet Knights’ interception leader in both 2021 and 2023, snagging three balls from opposing quarterbacks in each of those seasons.
NFL.com gave him a Prospect Grade of 6.24/8 or “Will Eventually Be Average Starter,” while NFL Next Gen Stats gave him a 75/100, or “Good.”
Melton would be the second Cedar Creek alum to ever be drafted to the NFL, the first being his older brother, Green Bay Packers wide receiver Bo Melton.
This year's draft brought an added level of excitement in Atlantic County with both Melton and Egg Harbor Township High School graduate Yvandy Rigby being looked at by NFL teams.
