Egg Harbor Township police are preparing drivers for three new four-way stops at intersections that have seen a significant number of accidents.
Stops signs are being installed at the intersection of West Jersey and Ridge avenues, where only drivers on Ridge currently have to stop.
Signs also will be added to Cates Road where it intersects with West Jersey Avenue as well as at the nearby — and newer — intersection at Reega Avenue.
There have been 164 crashes at these three intersections since 2019, police said. Half resulted in reported injuries.
The new traffic patterns are expected to take effect next week.
To prepare, message boards have been posted near these intersections advising motorists of the upcoming changes.
Once installed, the new signs will be covered until additional roadwork to these areas is completed.
Residents and motorists in these areas can expect an increase in police related activity as officers monitor the new intersections once the new traffic patterns are in effect, which is expected by the end of next week.
