A Marmora man was killed in an Atlantic City shooting Sunday night.
Kevin Gayle Jr., 37, is the fourth person killed in the city within the first week of the new year.
An Atlantic City man was wounded in the hail of gunfire in the area of the 1100 block of Monroe Avenue, according to the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office.
An alert from the ShotSpotter audio gunshot-detection system brought officers to the scene, where they found two men wounded.
Gayle was taken to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center's City Campus, where he was pronounced dead.
Lyndon Russell Jr., 24, of the city, was admitted to the hospital for his injury.
Gayle's cause and manner of death are pending an autopsy.
A witness told BreakingAC that a car sped away down Ohio Avenue.
This incident is being investigated by the Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit and the Atlantic City Police Department's Violent Crimes Unit.

Superior Court Judge William Miller noted the spate of violence during a detention hearing Monday morning involving a 20-year-old man who was arrested with a weapon while on release.
He noted the three previous killings, which included two fatal stabbings within the first hours of 2024.
"There's an epidemic of gun violence," the judge said.
