Between Pride events, great weather and the North to Shore Festival, June is — as the chorus of the old Carousel song says — “busting out all over.”
Don’t miss any of the unique events happening all over the city.
AC Pride is ditching traditional club music for country this Friday at Anchor Rock Club at 8 p.m.
Attendees can enjoy the western-themed hoedown aptly titled Stilettos and Spurs.
Dust off those cowboy boots in the back of your closet you never wear. Because western attire is encouraged.
This is one of many June events that AC Pride is sponsoring. Like and follow their socials to keep up with all the tea on what else is happening.

The Gipsy Kings are at Ocean Casino at 8 p.m. Saturday.
This prolific Latin musical group, oddly founded in France in 1979, will have you dancing in the aisles. Or at the bare minimum, toe-tapping.
Members of the band perform in their unique romance language Catalan, mostly. But you’ll also hear Spanish and Occitan. Even if you don’t speak these native tongues, rest assured that this batch of talented virtuosos have mastered the universal language of music.
Even the staunchest of gringos will recognize their hit Bamboléo. And I can almost guarantee that this band that covered Frank Sinatra’s "My Way" (A Mi Manera to them), will play either that or their cover of "Volare" when they come to A.C.
But what do I know? I went to Philly to see Depeche Mode expecting to hear "People Are People."
There are still unbelievably low, $42 tickets available.
Andy Bell from Erasure fame is bringing his first solo tour to the Circus Maximus Theater at 8 p.m. Saturday.
First of all, while researching this article, I typed Andy Bell into Wikipedia. It kicked back a list of 10 Andy Bell pages. The Andy Bell I was looking for was number eight behind an entrepreneur, a motocross rider and even a music producer!
Those of us who sang his anthems like "A Little Respect," know in their heart of hearts that he is number one.
You won’t want to miss the soulful voice and flamboyant stage presence of this bona fide pop star and gay icon.
Bell released two solo albums over the years. Historically, he has enjoyed the limelight much more than lifelong pal and bandmate Vince Clark. Clark of course is the other half of the dynamic duo Erasure. Although he started out as the main songwriter for, wait for it, Depeche Mode.
Even though Bell is appearing without his running mate, it’s sure to be a good time.
The local, lifelong pals of Redonkulous Entertainment are throwing an all-day affair at the Sheraton this Saturday to celebrate art and screen their new documentary.
This group is foremost a comic book company – the very first black-owned comic book company in Atlantic City to be exact. But their collective has morphed into filmmaking and producing their own clothing line.
I guess the adage is true. “If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.”
Guests can enjoy the art gallery of local artists from 3 to 6 p.m. Then, the group will screen Arts in AC: Past, Present, & Future.
The documentary takes viewers on a journey over the 127-year history of Atlantic City with an artist perspective.
Tickets can be purchased several ways from their website.
Monday is the first event in the Atlantic City’s week of the North to Shore Festival. Dozens of events will be going on all over town from the until June 23.
Kick off the week with a life drawing class at Union Hall Arts and end the celebration of arts and community with a Mary Cross jazz concert.
In between, you can go to a bonfire, hear an organ concert on the biggest pipe organ in the world, or do '80s karaoke. I know the following phrase gets thrown around a lot…but. There absolutely is something for everyone!
New to the second annual affair is Showcase Stage and Artist Village. It’s a two-day festival-within-a-festival on Saturday and Sunday! There will be food truck, artists and giveaways along with plenty of local talent taking the stage.
This is no open mic or local talent show. Local legend Agela Burton and her band Passion will grace the stage along with local finalist from The Voice Mara Justine.
The kids will not be left out either. There will be plenty of activities for them like painting and decorating cupcakes. Plus on Sunday kids and adults can be dazzled by the WOW Experience mobile vehicle from New Jersey Travel and Tourism.
As a festival grantee, I can say that a festival like this is vital to local artists. It provides a budget and exposure to people that may not be able to afford the upfront costs of producing an event. It brings together artists in the community to collaborate and network. It is uplifting and fun.
Please do your part and support as many events as you can. Several of the events are free.
