Fletcher Cox on Nick Sirianni: 'All He Does Is Win'

  • Eagles

Kay Adams interviewed Fletcher Cox on her Up & Adams show on Tuesday, asking his thoughts on the relationship between Eagles fans and Nick Sirianni.

"Let's look at Nick's history," said Cox. "Playoffs, Super Bowl, playoffs, playoffs. I mean, all he does is win." Cox also spoke highly of Sirianni's ability to "rally up a team of men," and "find ways to win" despite turnover among the head coach's coordinators.

Cox is accurate on the facts. Sirianni is 41-19 in regular season games with the Birds, the team hasn't missed the playoffs under his stewardship, and his 2022 team damn near won the Super Bowl. It's easy to make the case that the head coach must be doing something right.

On the other hand, it's not entirely clear whether Sirianni "led" the team to these successes or was simply along for the ride. And this season, with Vic Fangio in charge of the defense and Kellen Moore leading the offense, there is widespread confusion among fans regarding Sirianni's role.

Coach, what is it you'd say you do here?

Wins and losses aside, Adams' question to Cox was about the relationship between Sirianni and Eagles fans. And there's a significant contingent of fans who believe the team has succeeded despite Sirianni, or have grown tired of the coach's sideline antics. (Chirping at fans after the Eagles' narrow victory over the Browns, for example.)

The coach's relationship with fans is tenuous, in our opinion. As long as Sirianni keeps stacking Ws, fans will tolerate him. If he wins a Super Bowl, fans will adore him.

And if things turn south for this talented Eagles team, Philadelphians will call for Sirianni's head.

Cox, however, thinks the Eagles are poised to make a strong run this season: "This team could get scary within the next few weeks."
