The Ventnor City Fire Department responded Sunday morning to the report of a surfer injured near the Ventnor Fishing Pier.
The incident occurred shortly before 9 a.m. and the surfer, a 72-year-old man, was brought to the shoreline with the aid of other surfers.
A video posted on the Ventnor Community Facebook page shows first responders placing the surfer on a board and transporting him off the beach. Comments indicated the man was an experienced surfer.
According to limited information provided by the Fire Department, the surfer sustained injuries to his back and side when he fell off the board in the surf.
Fire Chief Michael Cahill said department personnel, including emergency medical technicians, provided medical assistance at the scene.
