A North Jersey pair is charged with murder more than three months after a missing man’s body was found decomposing in a wooded area in Atlantic County.

Isaac Bishop, 33, was last seen June 9, the same day phone records show that a man and woman drove to a secluded area in Weymouth Township, according to the state.

Three arrived there, the phone records show. But only Dyshawn Bostick and Francheska Burgos-Gonzalez left.

Two days later, Bishop’s family reported him missing. The Irvington, Essex County man’s car was found abandoned on Pine Grove Terrace in Newark with his wallet and identification inside, according to information released by his family at the time.

Bishop's family created an Instagram in June, hoping to find the missing man alive.

His family said they knew something was wrong when he did not show up for his daughter’s graduation, failed to show up to work and was not around for Father’s Day.

A hunter found his badly decomposing remains June 30. N.J. State Police released information when the body was recovered in a heavily wooded area near 13th Avenue, but had not made the cause of death public nor announced the arrests.

Bishop was shot, although it was not indicated how many times. Eleven shell casings were found at the scene, according to information given at Bostick’s detention hearing this week.

Burgos-Gonzalez, 37, is currently jailed in Arizona, where it is alleged she fled.

Bostick, 28, of Tinton Falls, Monmouth County, however, did not run, his attorney argued, alleging the state has no evidence against his client.

Cell phone records are not adequate to put Bostick at the scene, Jason Foy said.

“What do they have evidence of potentially?” he asked. “They don’t even have evidence that he had his phone at the time.”

Foy noted that Bostick has no criminal history at all, and has never even been arrested before.

A gun was found in both defendants’ homes. But Foy noted that Bostick’s is legally owned.

Chief Assistant Prosecutor Seth Levy said a murder defendant without a criminal history is not unusual. In fact, he said it is often the case in domestic violence homicides. The motivation for the killing was not released.

Levy also said Bostick likely did not run because he thought he would not get caught, since he has no ties to the area, noting the North Jersey man lives farther from Atlantic County than either Philadelphia or Delaware.

“The only person who could have ratted him out is dead in the middle of the woods in southern New Jersey,” Levy said.

Foy asked the judge to “do the hard thing,” and release his client.

But Judge Jeffrey Wilson found that the defense did not overcome the presumption of detention that comes with a murder charge under bail reform.

Bostick will remain in the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
