Two Somers Point men are charged with stealing more than $165,000 in property from local mausoleums.
Nicholas Galias, 63, and Richard Thompson, 50, allegedly stole or damaged multiple doors, brass security windows and ornate glass windows.
The two then sold the scrap to a local scrap yard, an investigation by Detective Jamal Roy found.
Diligent investigative efforts by detectives led to the two men, Capt. Angelo Maldonado said.
Each faces more than a dozen charges, including second-degree theft by unlawful taking and third-degree burglary. Both were released on summonses.
"This crime was not only a significant financial loss, but also a deeply disrespectful act against our community," read a statement from Pleasantville police. "We are committed to ensuring that those responsible for such acts are held accountable."
