Atlantic City's All Wars Building was turned into a ballroom Friday, as fathers took their daughters to the first Daddy-Daughter Sneaker Ball.
The participants got to walk the red carpet and get "paparazzi" photos before enjoying the night of dinner and dancing.
Attendees were encouraged to dress in fashionable attire while wearing sneakers for comfort.
They did not disappoint.
While the footwear may have been comfortable, they also were a fashion statement with many dads matching their daughters.
The Atlantic City Recreation Division organized the event with the assistance of the Atlantic City Youth Services, Reentry and the Mayor’s Office of Special Events.
“This was an unforgettable experience for area dads, allowing them to not only spend quality time with their daughters but have some fun at the same time,” Atlantic City Recreation Director Mike Griffin said. “Community gatherings like this are extremely important. The Recreation division is known for organizing sporting activities, but we received great support from Mayor Small and our fellow Health and Human Services divisions so we could think outside the box and put together an event like this that will give these families memories that will last a lifetime.”
Food and prizes were donated by various local organizations and businesses.
This was the first such ball, but promises not to be the last.
