Atlantic County government’s free transportation for mobile-dependent residents is expanding its reservation hours beginning Monday.
Eligible residents now may contact the reservation clerks from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, excluding holidays.
The hours previously were from 1 to 4 p.m.
Reservations can be made for transportation to and from life-essential and life-enhancing services from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. weekdays for those 60 years and older, residents with disabilities, veterans traveling to medical appointments, and those who live in rural areas without transportation services.
County transportation services will not duplicate existing services, such as those available to residents of assisted living or other facilities.
Life-essential services include dialysis and cancer treatments, medical and laboratory appointments, senior nutrition sites, grocery shopping, volunteer employment and/or education/job training, and prescribed physical and occupational therapy programs.
Life-enhancing services include social and recreational services, and non-grocery shopping.
Advanced reservations are accepted for life-essential services as many as seven days prior to travel and for life-enhancing services as many as two days prior to travel.
