Pedestrian killed in Atlantic City crash

  • Atlantic City

An Atlantic City man died after he was struck by two vehicles on New Year's Eve.

Police were called to Maryland Avenue and Absecon Boulevard at 10:47 p.m. for the report of a crash, Capt. Kevin Fair said.

The 38-year-old man walked onto Pennsylvania Avenue, when he was struck by a 61-year-old driver from Manahawkin, who had the right of way, Fair said.

The pedestrian was knocked to the ground, and then struck by a second car driven by a 54-year-old from Atlantic City, according to the report. The pedestrian was struck and then dragged by the second vehicle before the driver stopped.

Both drivers stayed at the scene and were cooperative, Fair said. No names have been released and no charges issued at this time.

The Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office is assisting in the investigation.

Anyone who witnessed the crash or has additional information is asked to call the department's Accident Investigations Section at 609-347-5744.  Information can also be sent anonymously via text to tip411 (847411), beginning the text with ACPD.  All texts are anonymous.
