Detention hearings set for three accused of human trafficking

  • News
A man and two women from Massachusetts will face a detention hearing Tuesday to decide whether they will be held in jail on charges of trafficking and promoting prostitution a woman in Atlantic City. Galen Spriggs, Jovana Jensen, and Laraza White, all of Revere, Massachusetts, were arrested Monday, and each was charged with first-degree human trafficking and third-degree promoting prostitution. The investigation was a quick one, Assistant Prosecutor John Flammer told Superior Court Judge Bernard DeLury on Thursday, in successfully postponing detention hearings planned for Jensen, 37, and White, 24. It began at 8 a.m. Monday, after the FBI’S Child Exploitation Task Force received news of a human-trafficking allegation. The arrests made that day, after a search warrant at a Bally’s Atlantic City hotel room, Flammer said. The unnamed 23-year-old victim has been recovered, he said. And is getting help. Spriggs, 39, was set for a detention hearing Tuesday, which now will be when all three are in court. Until then, they remain in the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
