An Atlantic City man is jailed for allegedly setting fire to a home Sunday night.
Firefighters were called to 45 N. Kingston Ave. just before 5 p.m., and arrived to find flames and heavy smoke coming from the two-story wood-frame, Fire Chief Scott Evans said at the time.
The occupants were able to escape safely.
Daniel Grisales-Mejia, 21, approached officers and said he lived in the home, Lt. Kevin Fair said.
He was taken to the AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center's City Campus to be evaluated.
But after Fire Capt. John Friday and police Detective Matthew Cocuzza talked to a witness, Grisales-Mejia was charged with setting the fire, Fair said.
He is in the Atlantic County Justice Facility on charges of aggravated arson and criminal mischief.
Two people were displaced by the blaze, and were helped by the American Red Cross.
