A Millville couple allegedly tried stealing parts from vehicles at an Egg Harbor Township car dealership early Thursday morning.
Police went to the Matt Blatt Kia on the Black Horse Pike at about 1:38 a.m. in the township's Cardiff section, after responders from the alarm company saw two people looking under vehicles, Lt. Robert Gray said.
Several officers arrived and found a man and a woman under a vehicle trying to remove the catalytic converter, Gray said.
After Steven Olivio and Elizabeth Rosario were removed from under the car, Olivio tried to push through the officers and run, according to the report.
He was taken into custody after a brief struggle with two officers suffering minor injuries, Gray said.
The pair already had another catalytic converter they had removed from another vehicle on the lot, Gray said.
Both were charged with theft, receiving stolen property, criminal mischief, criminal attempt, conspiracy, possession of burglar tools and obstruction.
Olivio, 42, was additionally charged with aggravated assault and resisting arrest, and released on a summons.
Rosario, 35, was taken to the Cumberland County jail on an outstanding warrant.
