A man apparently committed suicide inside a Ventnor apartment building Saturday, police said.
The shooting happened as the city was preparing for its annual Holiday Parade, Chief Joe Fussner said.
Police were called to the building at 6303 Ventnor Ave. at 4:08 p.m. by a resident reporting a man had been shot, according to the report.
The 27-year-old was found with a gunshot wound inside one of the units.
He was taken to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center’s City Campus by Ventnor City Fire Department.
The man, whose name was not released, was later pronounced dead.
It appears the fatal injuries were self-inflicted, Fussner said.
The parade’s start was delayed by about 15 minutes.
The investigation is being conducted by Detective Sgt. Peter Munizza and Detective Kevin Brady.
