Whoopi Goldberg is big on Atlantic City, the mayor says.
The Oscar-winning actress met with Marty Small and others via Zoom this week and talked about what she sees for the city.
“She wants Atlantic City to be like Vegas, where you can just show up and get married,” Small told BreakingAC.
Small said he his administration has been talking with “The View” host’s team.
“She is tremendously bullish on the great city of Atlantic City,” he said.
Discussions did lead to marijuana, with Goldberg a well-known advocate.
Kashawn McKinley, who was recently named director of Constituent Services for the city, has been handling the issue of legal cannabis for the city and was among those on Wednesday’s call.
“This is gonna be great,” Goldberg said in the meeting. “I’m very, very excited. We’re gonna make it happen.”
Small did not have details about Goldberg’s involvement, but said more talks are planned.
“She is interested in opening up businesses here,” he said. “She loves Atlantic City, and she wants to work with this administration.”
Small said he welcomes her with open arms.
“What bigger and better ambassador than Whoopi Goldberg?” he asked. “She’s a legend.”
