Atlantic City man gets 10 years for shooting man

  • News

An Atlantic City man was sentenced to 10 years in prison for shooting a victim several times in a 2022 attack.

Tajideen Austin, 30, pleaded guilty last month to second-degree charges of aggravated assault and possession of a handgun for an unlawful purpose, along with first-degree possession of a handgun by a convicted felon.

He must serve at least 5½ years before he is eligible for parole. Austin also will have three years of intensive parole supervision upon his release.

Police were called to the 1400 block of Central Avenue on July 23, 2022, where they found the victim shot several times in his lower back and extremities.

Austin was identified through surveillance video and witness statements. He was later found to be driving a car with a loaded gun that ballistics analysis confirmed was used to shoot the victim.

He remains in the Atlantic County Justice Facility pending his transfer to state prison.
