Galloway man pleads guilty in Atlantic City gun and drugs case

  • Crime-Courts

A Galloway Township man who was re-arrested after a gun was found inside a seized vehicle pleaded guilty this week.

Halim Fisher, 25, was first arrested Dec. 21, 2022, after he and a 16-year-old boy left a store in the 1700 block of Atlantic Avenue, after selling crack cocaine to a man inside, police said at the time.

Fisher had a drug scale and keys to a Ford Fusion on him at the time.

Police got a warrant to search that vehicle, which led to a loaded handgun inside the glove compartment. Fisher's DNA was on the gun, according to the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office.

Fisher appeared in court via video a day after his arrest in July 2023.   By time the gun was found, Fisher already had been released. He was arrested July 27, 2023.

He also pleaded guilty in two unrelated cases.

He admitted to eluding police during an attempted motor vehicle stop in Mays Landing on June 2, 2023, and to possessing cocaine with intent to distribute on Nov. 23, 2022, in the same area of Atlantic City where the second arrest occurred.

As a result, Fisher will be subject to a drug offender restraining order for that area upon his release from prison.

He faces a sentence of six years with 3½ years of parole ineligibility.

Judge Donna Taylor denied Fisher’s request to be released pending sentencing in October. He remains in the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
